U.S. Chain Store Sales Show Positive Trend

Chain store sales rose 0.6 percent year-on-year for the week that ended May 30, 2009, completing a “rollercoaster” month for U.S. retailers. Compared with the previous week, sales dropped 0.6 percent, according to the weekly sales snapshot report from the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Goldman Sachs. Obtaining franchising opportunities is the first step to establish a chain store. Franchising is a popular word. Franchise can involved all kinds of aspects in the society. Such as KFC, especially the custom industry became prevalent now. Custom products are more and more welcomed by public.
“The month of May has been a rollercoaster ride for retailers, and unfortunately ended on a negative note,” said Michael Niemira, ICSC chief economist. He added that the positive trend in year-on-year comparisons may nevertheless indicate some rebounding of sales.

ICSC expects that May U.S. retail sales will have fallen 2 percent compared with last year. Official data for the month is scheduled to be released on Thursday.
